Michael Gow on Playwriting, Directing, & Coming Home

Welcome to Behind the Curtain with Nick Troon the show where we sit down with theatre practitioners and get a backstage look at the creative process.

On today’s episode we sit down with critically acclaimed Australian playwright, Michael Gow.

Michael started writing plays in 1983 with his first play, The Kid.  Since then he’s written a wide collection of work for theatre, film, & television, first receiving wide acclaim with his 1986 play, Away.

Over the years, Gow’s work has also appeared sporadically across the HSC prescribed text list.

Today, we’ll be discussing his upcoming production Toy Symphony.  Originally written in 2007, Gow is returning to this heavily autobiographical work in the area where he grew up, the Sutherland Shire.

There is plenty to unpack across this conversation making an episode you won’t want to miss.

Toy Symphony, is playing at the Pavilion Arts Theatre from the 18th – 20th June.

Tickets are on sale now, so for more details visit The Pavilion’s Website.
