DOG TOOTH, GODZILLA AND A PAY RISE, SWEETIE!

From Gadigal/ Sydney, post-punk, gothic rock trio Sweetie are certainly finding their way into your playlist! Comprised of Lily Keenan (vocals, guitar), Rikki Clark (drums), and Lucy Warriner (guitar), Sweetie continues to be a trailblazing figure in the Australian music industry while gaining recognition internationally as well.  

With their debut Album ‘Dogtooth’ releasing on the 25th of September via Blossom Rot Records, you’re sure to be feeling your absolute baddest and most confident self when listening to this album. With their first single off the album ‘Godzilla’ released on the 24th of June, that brings a grunge atmosphere to anywhere you play it, with its strong bass, hauntingly intense vocals and wild guitar. Following, ‘Dogtooth’ on the 29th of July, its bouncy groovy sound that allows you to let loose and dance in whatever way you seem fit in the moment.  With latest single ‘Pay Rise’ released on the 27th of August, all about the mediocre routine we call life, this anthem is one you will be screaming on your way to work, whether its in a car or …. On a train~!   

Pay Rises’ set was built primarily by Rikki, with some help from Lily and Lucy! Sweetie members all learnt how to play their instruments in their mid-twenties. What started out as messing around on instruments, formed the musical essence of what is now Sweetie. With the juxtaposition of the tough and the abstract alongside the sweet and soft visuals, it perfectly encapsulates Sweetie. Sweetie is all about rebellion, being your own entity, taking your power back and walking with your back straight and head held high no matter what circumstance.  Inspired by indie rock artists PJ Harvey, Goat Girl and Wet Leg, you’re in for a treat!
