Nicosongs Debuts Single Insane (SB90 Remix)

Nicolas “NICOSONGS (Nico)” Araya, is an upcoming Chilean Australian musical artist who dropped his debut single “Insane” mixed by SB90. The self-taught musician had his musical awakening early in his life but pursued a career in singing after graduating university. He dabbled in drama and theatre in school and spent some years living in Chile, before moving to Brisbane then moving to Melbourne. Often, artists find themselves doubting if art is a career and being pushed to make art as a hobby with a plan B behind them. Nico broke free from this mentality. 

Nico began covering songs from Ne-Yo, Dua Lipa, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga on Instagram. After opening for an artist in Melbourne with a cover of Ne-Yo’s, “So Sick”, Nico’s cover was posted online and discovered by Ne-Yo who DM’d Nico. This would give Nico the boost he needed to deep dive into his own musical career.  

Coming from Chile, Nico’s background informs his sound. Latin music is often lyrically tragic and dark, while combining upbeat rhythmic dance music that many dance to happily, sometimes completely ignoring the lyrics and being surprised by the meaning later. “Insane” is one of those songs. Nico adds his own spin to this song format, blending dance, pop and RnB elements to create “Insane” ’s unique sound. His vocals are ethereal and haunting, soft yet powerful.   

“Insane “blends melancholic lyrics about disconnect, AI use in society and going insane, juxtaposed with dance pop to bring “Insane” to life. The song can be interpreted into many ways too, for example a relationship that has mixed messages, going in circles and feeling helpless. The beauty of the song is the listener can relate to it using their own experiences.  

Nico has a bright musical future ahead, with some exciting things lined up in the future. This is just the beginning!
