ORIENTATION INTERVIEW – Neil Argent

Ben and Kim were joined in the studio by  Professor Neil Argent to discuss his area of teaching and his professional research interests.

Professor Neil Argent is the unit coordinator for  GEPL112 Australia: Where in the world?.  This unit explores the ways in which Australian urban and rural regions are being impacted by these global dynamics but also explores how, in turn, rural and urban communities interpret and influence these changes. This unit investigates some of the most important issues currently confronting Australian society.

His research interest is particularly keen on investigating the role of migration, especially city to rural migration, and youth out-migration from rural areas, in changing the social and demographic make-up of rural communities.

This interview is part of a series of Orientation Interviews, designed to make first-year students feel more at ease and reassured about what they can expect at UNE. Starting out at University can be highly overwhelming and we want to make sure that we do everything we can to ensure that students feel as comfortable as possible.

His complete history and staff profile can be found here.
