New Music Monday – 25 March 2024

We’ve added some absolute bangers to our New Music Monday playlist this week! Featuring songs from artists such as Hozier, Remi Wolf, Olivia Rodrigo, Lime Cordiale, and Aurora.

Song: So American (E)

Artist: Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has excited fans with the release of a deluxe version of her latest album “GUTS”, titled “GUTS spilled”. One of these new songs is an absolute banger of a love song, ‘So American’. This track is about falling head over heels in love, with lyrics such as “Oh God, I’m gonna marry him / If he keeps this sh** up”.

Fans have been anxiously waiting for these songs to be released, with the album featuring four songs from the GUTS vinal variants, along with this new track. Rodrigo is currently lighting up stages across Europe and north America with her GUTS world tour, supported by artists such as Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress, Chappell Roan, and The Breaders.

Song: Cinderella

Artist: Remi Wolf

Speaking of Remi Wolf, she has dropped an addictive new single called ‘Cinderella’. The track comes with a fun energetic music video and has such an infectious happy vibe. Wolf says this song was written during a time of emotional ups and downs:

“Constant travel and rapid changes led me to feel such a rollercoaster of emotion—moving from feeling really insecure to feeling really good to feeling manic and depressed and then feeling OK again, while desperately craving a grounding figure to tell me I was doing a good job. So, this song was me stepping in as my own fairy godmother telling myself that I was in control.”

The song is the lead single of her new upcoming album, ‘Big Ideas’. I had the pleasure of seeing Remi Wolf live at a Paramore concert last year, so I can say with 100% confidence that seeing her live is an amazing experience you don’t want to miss out on <3.

Song: Some Type of Skin

Artist: Aurora

After teasing lyrics on social media for weeks, Aurora has released her newest song, ‘Some Type of Skin’. Some lucky fans got to hear this track early, after Aurora performed it on her Norway Tour.

“I’ve always been told that I should build some type of skin. I’ve always let myself merge too much with the world, not really knowing where the world ends and I begin. This song screams the muchness of it. And it’s delicious. Being human is really delicious, even though it’s more than any of us can handle. My god it’s a lot.” – Aurora on ‘Some Type of Skin’.

Song: Too Sweet

Artist: Hozier

A few weeks ago, Hozier thrilled Australian fans by announcing he is bringing his Unreal Unearth Tour to cities in Australia and New Zealand later this year. The excitement hasn’t stopped there, with the release of his new EP ‘Unheard’ last Friday. The EP has 4 songs that were originally going to be apart of his last album. ‘Too Sweet’ has taken over tiktok for the last week, with its infectious chorus, “I take my whiskey neat/ my coffee black, in my bed at 3/ you’re too sweet for me.”

As part of his tour, Hozier is currently lighting up stages across the US, Europe and the UK, and will be finally hitting Aussie shores later this year in November. All tickets for the Australian shows are currently sold out, but fans have their fingers crossed that he could announce more soon!

Song: The Big Reveal; Au L’Hypocrite

Artist: Lime Cordiale

Australian Pop-rock band Lime Cordiale have treated fans to a new single, ‘The Big Reveal; Au L’Hypocrite’. This groovy hit has dropped just before the bands global tour, with shows across the US, Uk and Europe.

“We wanted the production of this song to feel bold. The music video definitely shares that aesthetic. It’s in your face. Felix, our keys player, cranked the huge circusy-cabaret organ solo. That was the final touch on the song.” – Lime Cordiale on ‘The Big Reveal; Au L’Hypocrite’.

Our New music playlist this week also features hits from artists such as The Veronicas, King Stingray, Blake Rose, Taylor Moss, and Charlie Pittman.
