Screen Time Reviews The Boy and The Heron

Studio Ghibli’s latest release, The Boy and The Heron, is the subject of today’s episode of Screen Time. Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the film combines elements of his childhood with a fantastical story set against the backdrop of the Pacific War.

Released in both English and Japanese, the English voice cast features talents like Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan, Mark Hamill, Christian Bale, Willem Dafoe, and Dave Bautista, with Luca Padovan as the voice of Mahito Maki.

Screen Time host David says the art was beautiful. “The painted backgrounds were incredibly artistic and eye catching, and the drawn backgrounds were vibrant and incredibly detailed. There is much to enjoy. Even if you’re not an art person, you just might become one.”

“The scenes in this film were beautifully animated. The flow of everything felt and looked on point. From the flow of the wind to the flow of the waves, to how other things were affected by these, Ghibli once again put their all into this movie.”
