Today is World Literacy Day, so to celebrate we’re discussing the different ways we approach literacy. We caught up with Dr Nathan Lowien from UNE, whose focus on multimodal theory presents a unique and interesting perspective on literacy and teaching. Nathan is Senior Lecturer in English, Literacies and Language in the School of Education, and looks not just at conventional ways of approaching literacy, but also how including things like video games, animated films, and online advertising can contribute to literacy.
