New Pigeon Pea Varieties A Step Forward for Australian Pulse Industry
The University of Queensland has successfully created new varieties of pigeon peas for human consumption. The hardier, drought resistance pulse crop was designed to thrive in tropical conditions, hopefully resulting in a new industry in Australia. PhD student and TuneFM volunteer caught up with lead researcher on the project, Dr Mahen Sabampillai to discuss the research work behind the legume, and it’s place in Australia.
